I am happy to work to commission, providing it is a subject to which I feel suited and can obtain good quality reference - either by studying the subject myself, or with photographs provided by the client.
Price obviously reflects size and any specific requirements (eg.research needed), plus consideration of the complexity of the piece and the time necessary to complete the work.
After agreeing to undertake a commission, 50% of the fee is payable up front, with the balance due on completion. Typically the client will be shown some simple compositional sketches to help confirm the ultimate look of the piece before the final painting is undertaken.
I usually hand-finish my frames to suit the colour and mood of each painting, however, clients are welcome to commission unframed works if they would rather organise framing themselves.
